Roger started his business in 1973 and moved to his present location, 929 King Street, in 1976. Roger has held photographic positions in Bio-medical photography, Aerial photography, Commercial photography and Child and Family portraiture. In Roger's "Memory Mates" business, he employed over 40 photographic craftsmen, taking his mobile studio to small towns around the country, giving families an opportunity to enjoy professional photography .
Roger, an educator, as well as a photographer, taught photography and art at Viterbo University, as well as University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He has enjoyed sharing his trade with hundreds of students through the years, many of which have followed in his footsteps into the photographic profession.
The Victorian Italianate built by Judge Samuel S. Burton in the 1860's caught Roger's eye while studying at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Roger bought the house when he was in his early 20's and has put years of restoration effort into it, making him a proud owner of one of the oldest buildings in the city of La Crosse. The house has been honored in the National Register of Historic Places, the City of La Crosse Historic Sites, and has received the Preservation Alliance Heritage Award. The building itself creates a unique background for portraits as well as a great space to be creative and work.
